Buc-ee's, the Texas-based gas station and travel center chain renowned for its large-format stores and beaver-themed branding, is embarking on a significant expansion across the United States. By the end of next year, at least six new states are set to open their first Buc-ee's locations, with some sites scheduled to debut as late as 2027. Arizona and Arkansas are expected to open their inaugural Buc-ee's stores later this year, with Arizona's Goodyear location set for a June 22 opening. This store will be situated near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, spanning 74,000 square feet and offering 120 fueling positions. Arkansas' Benton location is anticipated to open in early to mid-August at the northwest corner of I-30 and State Highway 299, according to Bill Eldridge, Chairman of the City of Benton Advertising and Promotion Commission [1].

Further expansion includes Wisconsin, Louisiana, Kansas, and North Carolina. Wisconsin's Oak Creek store is planned for early 2027 at the southwest corner of I-94 and Elm Road, featuring 120 gas pumps and a 73,370-square-foot travel center. Ruston, Louisiana, is targeting a mid-2027 opening for its first Buc-ee's, which will be located at the intersection of I-20 and Tarbutton Road, spanning over 70,000 square feet and including more than 100 fuel pumps. Kansas City, Kansas, will see its first Buc-ee's in 2027 near I-70 and West Village Parkway, with a 74,000-square-foot facility. North Carolina's Mebane location is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2027, marking the chain's continued push into the Southeast [1].

In addition to these new markets, Buc-ee's is also expanding in states where it already has a presence. Texas will open its 37th Buc-ee's in San Marcos in July. Other upcoming locations include Monroe County, Georgia; Lafayette, Louisiana; St. Lucie and Tallahassee, Florida; Gallaway, Tennessee; and Fayette County, Arkansas, all expected to open next year. Oak Grove, Kentucky, is projected to receive a Buc-ee's in 2027 or later, while West Memphis has been delayed to June 2028 [1].

Currently, Buc-ee's operates 55 locations across 12 states. The planned expansion will extend the chain's footprint to 20 states, significantly increasing its national presence and potentially reshaping the competitive landscape of large-format travel centers in the U.S. [1].

CONCLUSION

Buc-ee's aggressive expansion into six new states and additional locations in existing markets signals a major growth phase for the company. With openings scheduled through 2028, Buc-ee's is poised to strengthen its national brand and market share in the travel center and convenience retail sector. The scale and geographic reach of this expansion are likely to have a significant impact on regional competitors and the broader retail landscape.
