Buc-ee’s Accelerates National Expansion with 15 New Travel Centers, Opens First Arizona Location

Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based travel center chain, is significantly expanding its national presence with 15 additional locations currently in the pipeline, according to a report dated June 24. The company marked a major milestone by opening its first Arizona store in Goodyear, a suburb of Phoenix, on Monday. This 74,000-square-foot travel center features 120 fuel pumps, operates 24/7 year-round, and is expected to create over 200 jobs. City officials anticipate as many as 40,000 vehicles could visit the new location during opening day and the following week [1].

Stan Beard, director of real estate development at Buc-ee's Ltd., emphasized the strategic placement of the Goodyear store, highlighting its appeal to road-trippers traveling to California or visiting the Phoenix area. Buc-ee’s, founded in 1982, has grown to 56 locations across 13 states, evolving from a Texas roadside favorite into a widely recognized brand [1].

The company has outlined a robust expansion schedule, with confirmed openings in San Marcos, Texas (August 12), Benton, Arkansas (August 17), and Murfreesboro, Tennessee (November 16) in 2026. Additional locations are planned for 2027 in Ruston, Louisiana; Kansas City, Kansas; Gallaway, Tennessee; St. Lucie, Florida; Boerne, Texas; and Monroe County, Georgia. Two more stores are scheduled for 2028 in Mebane, North Carolina, and Lafayette, Louisiana. Further expansion is planned for 2029 and beyond, including sites in Ocala, Florida; West Memphis, Arkansas; Oak Grove, Kentucky; and Hardeeville, South Carolina (2031) [1].

Earlier in the year, Buc-ee’s also opened its first Ohio location in Huber Heights, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to growing its footprint outside Texas [1].

CONCLUSION

Buc-ee’s is aggressively expanding its national footprint, with 15 new travel centers planned and recent openings in Arizona and Ohio. The company’s growth strategy is expected to boost local employment and increase its brand presence across multiple states. Market impact is medium, reflecting the scale of expansion and potential for increased competition in the travel center sector.
